The Brisbane Circus Centre opened in the heart of Northshore Brisbane in 2023. It’s an iconic purpose-built circus training and presentation space, and home of Flipside Circus, Queensland’s largest youth arts organisation. This award-winning company is committed to training, performance, and advancing Brisbane’s world-leading circus sector.
Flipside Circus offers four key programs: Training, Artistic, Community and Social Circus, as well as Industry Support. Catering for all ages and skill levels, Flipside provides a fulfilling experience for everyone who visits.
The Brisbane Circus Centre is a big, bold, and playful addition to Northshore Brisbane’s immersive riverfront precinct. The innovative structure overlooks Maritime Green and is crafted from shipping containers and prefabricated materials, creating an iconic building that is uniquely circus. The centre is one of the latest additions to Northshore Brisbane’s cultural canvas, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the precinct’s creative energy.
The Brisbane Circus Centre has been designed with Northshore Brisbane’s values of adaptability and future-proofing in mind.
The centre will also host guest artists from across Australia and overseas and provide a new home base for resident companies and independent artists and collectives. Brisbane is a national and international hub for circus, and this new home is an important way to grow audiences and the circus sector to make it more sustainable.
The Brisbane Circus Centre is supported by The Australian Government, Arts Queensland, Economic Development Queensland, Northshore Brisbane, Creative Partnerships Australia, and more than 350 individual donors.
