As master developer and custodian of 50 hectares, including the remaining 1.2 kilometres of undeveloped Brisbane River frontage, Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) is strategically transitioning Northshore from a historical industrial port to a new city precinct of Brisbane.
Northshore’s commercial and innovation districts are home to some of the most progressive organisations in the city, and our ‘scale in place’ model allows enterprises to start small (rent a co-working desk by the day) and aim for the moon (literally) with tenancies large enough to build a spaceship.
Northshore has already won several industry awards, and is currently home to over 5,000 people, supported by 19,500 square metres of retail, commercial services and facilities delivered by our development partners within Portside Wharf, Hamilton Harbour and BTP commercial precincts.
EDQ’s range of commercial spaces include hardstand and original warehouse buildings, there are a range of approved uses including events, exhibitions and temporary pop-up installations.
Creating jobs
To date, the urban renewal of Northshore has been responsible for the creation of 3554 jobs during construction and supports 3374 ongoing jobs in the existing development within the Portside Wharf, Hamilton Harbour, Hamilton Reach and BTP Northshore areas.
Further investment in S1WD will create an additional 31 jobs during construction of the works and support over 300 jobs in the tourism, innovation and arts sectors.
