TeamArrow have big dreams – to drive electric and solar-powered vehicles into the mainstream, out of racing and into the real world. This Brisbane-based solar car racing team have represented Australia at international events all around the globe, but racing is just the tip of the iceberg for this inspired lot.
Created in 2013, co-founder Anthony Prior and some friends decided to make a solar car “just for fun”, racing in the World Solar Challenge that very same year – and placing in the top 10. In fact, TeamArrow have been the first Australian team to cross the finish line at every event they’ve competed in, including the World Solar Challenge in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019! They’re now preparing for the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge 2023, a 3,000 kilometre race across the Australian outback.
Prior and his team realised they had an opportunity to turn their passion into a career, establishing the commercial enterprise Prohelion. Prohelion specialise in electric vehicle technologies based on innovations created in TeamArrow; including design, manufacture, delivery and monitoring of energy storage solutions – from automotive and aviation, to marine and software applications. Prohelion was most recently the recipient of the 2021 Emerging Exporter Award at The Premier of Queensland’s Exporter Awards.
TeamArrow say Northshore has the space, facilities and location to support them in doing what they do – designing, building, marketing and racing solar cars – end to end. Anthony Prior perhaps said it best, “we’re doing some really fun stuff here”.
